The Indonesian Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, showed full support for Indonesian producers and exporters in their global market expansion efforts. During the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between an Indonesian electric kitchen equipment company and Hamilton Beach Brand from the United States, Hasan expressed appreciation for the partnership and expected it to significantly contribute to Indonesia's kitchen equipment exports to the US. The MoU involves a purchase agreement worth USD 50 million for Indonesian products by Hamilton Beach, and it could potentially lead to broader collaborations with other Indonesian companies as Hamilton Beach explores the possibility of relocating its manufacturing hub from China to Indonesia.
The Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in Chicago played a role in facilitating this MoU, connecting Hamilton Beach with Indonesian electric kitchen equipment manufacturers. During the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Ministers Responsible for Trade meetings, Hasan also met with the CEO of Hamilton Beach, Gregory H. Trepp, discussing the potential for deeper cooperation. The Indonesian government expressed its support for business collaborations between Indonesian and foreign counterparts, while Hamilton Beach expressed its commitment to exploring further investments and building a stronger partnership in Indonesia. Hamilton Beach, with a 20% market share in the US, currently imports kitchen equipment worth USD 350 million annually from China.
