Lampung Tourism Boosted to Achieve the Target of 1.4 Billion Domestic Tourist Visits

The Indonesian government is focusing on promoting tourism in Lampung as part of the Proud of Indonesian Tourism Movement (Gerakan Bangga Berwisata Indonesia, BBWI) in an effort to reach the target of 1.4 billion tourist visits. Lampung offers a range of captivating tourist attractions, including Way Kambas National Park, Tegal Mas, Krakatoa Nature Reserve, Pahawang Island, and picturesque beaches. In 2022, Lampung recorded a total of 1,730,095 domestic and international tourist visits. To raise awareness among tourists, the tourism potential of Lampung, particularly through social media platforms, needs to be further promoted.

Titus Haridjati, Director of Communication and Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, highlighted the significance of utilizing social media as a key promotional tool to boost tourism in Lampung and the wider region. With the majority of Indonesian internet users active on social media platforms for more than three hours daily, channels like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Telegram provide effective means to engage with potential tourists. The provincial government is actively working on infrastructure improvements, collaboration efforts, and the development of new tourist destinations to attract visitors to Lampung. Additionally, they emphasize the importance of providing honest and detailed information about the beauty of the attractions, terrain conditions, and associated costs to ensure that tourists can make informed decisions based on their preferences and interests.
