The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) believes that Indonesia's sago and artisanal chocolate industries have great potential for development. During the Hannover Messe 2023 exhibition in Germany, PT Bangka Asindo Agro, a sago processing company, recorded potential transactions worth IDR 6 billion, attracting interest from potential partners in Germany, Uzbekistan, and the Netherlands. Sago, with its high starch content and health benefits, can be a viable alternative staple food, while the artisanal chocolate industry still has room for growth, with 31 producers capturing 1.3% of the market share.
To support their development, the Ministry of Industry is conducting strategic meetings and action plans, including infrastructure development, promotional activities, and attracting new investors. The sago industry's action plan focuses on mapping production and demand, while the chocolate industry aims to optimize its market share. Expanding these industries requires collaboration and utilizing funds for inclusive investment.
