Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani's Vision: Indonesia as the Global Hub for Islamic Economy

Indonesia, with its majority Muslim population of around 237 million people, possesses a comparative advantage in Islamic economics. The government aims to position the country as a global center for Islamic economics and halal production. Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati highlighted the government's commitment to developing Shariah-compliant economic activities and recognized provincial governments that have contributed to the advancement of Islamic economics in their regions. The Ministry of Finance supports the development of Islamic economics by leveraging its network of representative offices and providing support to various industries through halal certification, export facilitation for halal-focused MSMEs, and taxation and financing assistance.

The Indonesian government recognizes the importance of Islamic economics and aims to strengthen its position in the global Islamic finance industry. Through collaborations and policy support, Indonesia seeks to leverage its comparative advantage in Islamic economics, promoting a meaningful ecosystem that prioritizes prosperity, justice, and efficiency. The government's commitment extends to various sectors, including food, fashion, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and media. By fostering a Shariah-based economy, Indonesia strives to contribute to the growth of Islamic economics for the benefit of the nation and the world.
