Indonesia Backs High Technology Adoption for a Sustainable Economy

The Indonesian government, represented by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, expressed its support for the adoption of advanced technologies to promote a clean and sustainable economy. This includes the utilization of blue and green ammonia, small modular reactors (SMRs), and hydrogen-based sustainable energy technologies. During the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF) Ministerial Meeting in Detroit, USA, Indonesia affirmed its commitment to fostering low-carbon and renewable hydrogen deployment in the Indo-Pacific region. The IPEF aims to facilitate investment in climate-friendly projects and explore various avenues to achieve the climate change mitigation goals set by participating countries.

The International Monetary Fund's Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva, acknowledged Indonesia's strong economic growth that surpasses the global average, even amidst global uncertainties. During the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) informed Georgieva that Indonesia is projected to achieve a 5.1% economic growth in 2023 and 5% in 2024. The IMF expressed hope that Indonesia would provide assistance to other developing nations, particularly in poverty alleviation efforts. Georgieva also recognized Indonesia's influential role in addressing global challenges and its ability to engage and communicate with various countries and stakeholders.
