DPM-PTSP Southeast Sulawesi Province (Southeast Sulawesi) recently released the investment realization data for the first quarter of 2023, shedding light on the economic activity in the region. Notably, the province emerged as a prominent destination for investment, attracting a substantial sum of IDR 2.19 trillion. This investment influx was composed of two categories: Foreign Investment (PMA) amounting to IDR 656.072 billion and Domestic Investment (PMDN) totaling IDR 1.537 trillion. The positive impact of these investments extended to the employment sector as well. During the first quarter of 2023, the province managed to absorb a significant labor force, employing a total of 3,304 workers. Among these workers, 182 were Foreign Workers (TKA), while 3,122 were Local Indonesian Workers. This notable labor absorption highlights the job opportunities generated by the investment activities in the region.
Analyzing the investment distribution, it becomes apparent that the first quarter witnessed three key sectors contributing to the overall investment figures. The mining sector secured the highest share, receiving IDR 773.555 billion in investments. The fishery sector followed with a considerable contribution of IDR 466 million, while investments in the food crop, livestock, and plantation sectors reached IDR 43.379 billion. These investments in diverse sectors reflect the economic diversity of Southeast Sulawesi and its potential for growth and development.
Moreover, the investments were spread across five regencies, contributing to their economic progress. Kendari City emerged as a significant recipient, attracting IDR 144.140 billion in investments. Kolaka Regency followed closely with an impressive amount of IDR 763.520 billion, while North Konawe Regency secured investments totaling IDR 372.497 billion. Konawe Regency and Bombana Regency also benefited from the investment wave, receiving IDR 297.660 billion and IDR 220.504 billion, respectively.
