The Cirebon Regency's Department of Trade and Industry (Disdagin) has highlighted rattan furniture as one of the region's notable export items, reaching out to ASEAN countries.
According to Ine Triana, the Acting Head of Disdagin Cirebon Regency's Trade and Control of Basic and Essential Goods Division, "Rattan furniture is a leading commodity for export to ASEAN countries." She added that ASEAN countries where Cirebon's rattan furniture is exported include Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and others. Ine noted that entrepreneurs and exporters benefit from the ease of exporting rattan furniture craft products because they are in high demand in ASEAN countries as well as Europe.
Cirebon Regency also exports natural stone handicrafts in addition to rattan furniture to numerous ASEAN countries, with positive results. Ine also mentioned that there are a variety of other export items to ASEAN countries, such as clothing, fabrics, jellies, snacks, shrimp paste, and so on. Cirebon Regency's export value fell in 2022 compared to 2021, owing mostly to the fallout from Russia's conflict with Ukraine. Cirebon Regency's export value reached USD 450 million in 2021, but fell to USD 428 million in 2022.
