Indonesia's Halal Industry Valuation Estimated at IDR 4.375 Trillion

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) projects that the halal industry in Indonesia will have a valuation of IDR 4.375 trillion. This valuation encompasses various sectors, including food and beverage, fashion, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, tourism, media, and financial services. Supported by the significant Muslim population in the country, which accounts for 85% of the total population of 231 million, the government aims to expedite the issuance of halal certificates to industry players. The Ministry of Religious Affairs' Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) has already granted accreditation certificates to 27 Halal Inspection Institutions (LPH), eight of which fall under the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Ministry of Industry's Standardization and Industrial Policy Agency (BSKJI).

To further support the growth of the halal industry, the Ministry of Industry is committed to enhancing the quality of halal examination services provided to manufacturers and the public. Currently, there are 55 LPH spread across Indonesia, assisting businesses in the halal certification process. With the addition of 13 LPHs under BSKJI, it will be easier for industries and businesses to obtain halal certification, aiming to achieve the target of 10 million halal-certified products by 2024. This development reflects the Ministry of Industry's dedication to strengthening the national economy by empowering the halal industry through facilitation, development, and monitoring.
