Coordinating Minister of Economy Airlangga Hartarto has shared the proceedings of G-7 after his attendance to the event. During the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, the leaders of the G7 group committed to enhancing global infrastructure and investment partnerships through the Partnership for Global Infrastructure Investment (PGII). This initiative was launched in 2022 during the G20 Summit in Bali, with a focus on mobilizing significant funding for energy, physical, digital, health, and climate resilience infrastructure. The PGII aims to promote equality, improve labor and environmental standards, and encourage transparency and good governance.
At the G7 Summit in 2023, President Joe Biden announced new PGII initiatives to build transformative economic corridors and promote infrastructure investments, connecting economies across countries and sectors. The United States has already mobilized USD 30 billion through grants, federal financing, and increased private sector investments. The PGII also supports the development and deployment of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), offering lower capital investment, scalability, and improved safety compared to traditional reactors. Indonesia, as an SMR partner, receives support from the United States in terms of technical capabilities, regulations, and feasibility studies. The United States continues to prioritize clean energy supply chains and sustainable economic growth through its participation in the PGII and innovative financing models like green bonds and revolving credit facilities.
