The Head of the Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority (BP Batam) has pledged to improve the ease of doing business in Batam to attract more investors. In a recent statement, he highlighted the various measures BP Batam took to streamline the investment process, including the implementation of online licensing systems and the reduction of processing times for investment permits. These efforts have resulted in a significant increase in investment in Batam, with a total of IDR 15.4 trillion in investment realized in the first quarter of 2022, up from IDR 5.5 trillion in the same period last year.
The Head of BP Batam also noted the importance of innovation and technology in attracting investment, citing the development of a digital park in Batam as an example. The digital park is expected to attract companies engaged in the digital economy and boost the local economy.
