This statement was made by the President Director of Syngenta Indonesia Kazim Hasnain in a statement, Tuesday (14/3/2023). He said, currently the average productivity of rice plants is 5.3 tons per hectare. "If productivity can be increased by just 10 percent, the yield per hectare can reach 5.8 tonnes. And contribute to GDP of $ 1.5 billion, "he said.
The result, he continued, is the application of good agricultural practices and proper management of pests and diseases. At the end of 2022, Syngenta has launched a new farming ecosystem called Centrigo which aims to help increase farmers' profits, through an end-to-end business model approach."This new agricultural ecosystem is the beginning of more advanced agricultural changes in Indonesia," he said.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Indonesia is one of the top 10 corn producing countries in the world. Aside from being a food ingredient, the demand for corn as animal feed also continues to increase every year. Syngenta Indonesia's Seed Business Head Fauzi Tubat added, his party is the leading leader in the corn market in Indonesia. This supports the realization of sustainable corn self-sufficiency.
"Agricultural innovation from upstream to downstream is one of the keys to achieving market excellence and increasing profits for farmers," he said.
