East Kalimantan Applies The Concept Of The Blue Economy In The Field Of Maritime Affairs And Fisheries

The Provincial Government of East Kalimantan applies the blue economy concept in order to accelerate the development of the marine and fisheries sector in the region.
"This blue economy concept means creating zero waste marine and fishery products," said East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor in an official statement in Samarinda, Monday.
According to him, zero waste business activities will further strengthen the sustainable management of marine and fisheries potential.
In addition, the concept is considered to be more productive and environmentally sound, as well as opening up more jobs for people's welfare.
For this reason, continued Isran, in an effort to accelerate the development of marine and fisheries, it must be able to spur increased production.
Moreover, he said, currently the demand for marine products is quite large, both for domestic consumption and international market needs.
"Especially later for the needs of IKN (Nusantara Capital) in East Kalimantan," he said.

The number one person on the "Etam Continent" -as East Kalimantan is known - admits that fishery commodities have high economic value that must be developed potentially in the region
Such as from the aquaculture sector in the form of tiger prawns, grouper, seaweed, tilapia, carp, catfish, catfish, and milkfish, while capture fisheries are directed at commodities that are in market demand, including snapper, crab, white pomfret, and shrimp.
"The potential for marine and fisheries is enormous if it is managed properly and professionally, the results will be sustainable," said the Chairperson of the Indonesian Association of Provincial Governments.
Blue economy, said Isran, to increase economic growth through various innovative and creative activities while ensuring business and environmental sustainability
"Our forests have made a major contribution to reducing emissions. Now it's the turn of maritime affairs and fisheries to do zero waste," said the former East Kutai Regent.
