Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs: Indonesia's Food Security Index Score Increases 60.2 in 2022

Assistant Deputy for Food and Agribusiness Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Muhammad Saifulloh said that Indonesia's food security index has increased over the past few years. This was conveyed by Saifulloh in the outlook for Indef's public discussion by citing data from the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). "Indonesia's food security rating according to the GFSI has increased from a score of 59.2 in 2021 to 60.2 in 2022," said Saifulloh, Friday, December 16, 2022. In terms of ranking, according to Saifulloh, Indonesia's position has also experienced a pretty good increase from year to year. This can be seen from Indonesia's position, which was ranked 69th in 2021, rising to rank 63rd in 2022 out of 113 countries around the world. "This achievement cannot be separated from the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture through increasing production capacity, local food diversification, strengthening food reserves and logistics systems, developing modern agriculture and the three-time export movement program," he said. Head of Indef's Center for Macroeconomics and Finance, Rizal Taufikurahman, said that the agricultural sector is one of the strongest sectors and has not faltered against the shocks of the world crisis. Even if production drops, it is due to extreme weather that has hit the whole world.

“Extreme rainfall has affected the agricultural sector. But in 2023 I am optimistic that agriculture will develop well and the production trend will also increase," he said. In the same place, BPS Deputy for Statistics and Production, M Habibullah said that agriculture is the top three sectors in supporting the national economy with a value of 12.91 percent. Even in terms of absorption of employment, agriculture is the largest compared to other sectors. "The agricultural sector is a sector that is in the top three positions in supporting the Indonesian economy, which is around 12.91 percent. In terms of employment, the agricultural sector is also the largest. It's just that the problem is how do we revive the economy from the agricultural sector in the category of nebility sisters if we don't encourage the position of young farmers," he explained.
