LPEI increases Sambas Pepper Export Opportunities Through The Foreign Exchange Village

The Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) or Indonesia Eximbank encourages global exports of Sambas pepper commodities by launching the Pepper Sambas Foreign Exchange Village program. This collaboration program with PT BNI (Persero) and Rumah BUMN for the West Kalimantan Region will involve 62 pepper farmers who have a productive land area of 213 hectares and a production capacity of 200 tons of dry beans per year. "Currently there are twelve villages in Sejangkung District, Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan, including Sendoyan, Sulung, Penakalan, Sekuduk, Piantus, Setalik, Parit Raja, Perigi Landu, Senujuh, Perigi Limus, Semanga, and Sepantai villages," he wrote. LPEI in an official statement, Wednesday (14/13/2022). Sambas pepper itself is unique in the form of distinctive taste and aroma characteristics. This advantage is considered to be the capital to penetrate the export market.
Director of Institutional Relations of LPEI, Chesna F. Anwar, revealed that this synergy aims to escalate export opportunities for superior commodities in various regions. "At the same time increasing the standard of living and welfare of farmers in Indonesia," he continued. Chesna continued, the training provided to farmers and their cooperatives would be carried out continuously until Sambas pepper products penetrated the international market. "Going forward, LPEI will also continue to work together to build villages through the Foreign Exchange Village Program to encourage village community participation in the global export chain," he said. He hopes that through this program, many villages in Indonesia can generate foreign exchange and contribute to the country's economic growth through export activities.
