Exports of the Soy Sauce and Sambal Industry Reach IDR 2.76 Trillion

The soy sauce, chili sauce and tomato sauce industry sectors are included in the sectors that have a positive performance on the trade balance. Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry Dody Widodo noted that the cooking aid industry sector contributed a sizable income, reaching USD 175.8 million, equivalent to IDR 2.76 trillion (today's exchange rate is IDR 15,704). Meanwhile, imports of similar products were valued at USD 90.5 million. "Indonesia's leading export products for cooking aid are dominated by cooking spices and soy sauce, while sauces and processed products still have quite a large import value," said Dody at the inauguration of PT Heinz ABC Indonesia's factory expansion in Karawang, Monday (28/11).

Currently, he said, Indonesia is still in the 15th position for cooking aid exporting countries in the world. According to him, with the wealth of raw materials for spices and the diversity of spices, Indonesia has the potential to continue to increase its exports. "The government continues to encourage increased exports of Indonesian food and beverage industry products," he added. He also explained that there were several policies rolled out to encourage exports and guarantee the availability of raw materials from the supply side through increasing competitiveness. Not only that, industrial productivity from the demand side (demand side) through expanding market access and reducing barriers. "In order to expand access to the export market, the government adopted several policies to increase exports of cooking spices and spices, including the promotion of the "Spice Up the World" program and the development of Indonesian restaurants abroad," he said.

The target of the Spice Up the World program until 2024 is to increase the export value of spices and spices to USD 2 billion and the presence of 4,000 Indonesian restaurants abroad. In addition to promotional programs, the cooking aid industry must be able to take advantage of the global production chain by continuously improving product innovation, packaging and branding, so that our products can be accepted by the world market.
