The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the export volume of the base metal industry reached 12.37 million tons during the January-August 2022 period. The volume increased 53.18% compared to the same period the previous year which was only 10.42 million tons. Iron/steel is the export commodity of the base metal industry with the largest volume, reaching 9.96 million tons during the period January-August 2022. The volume accounts for 80.55% of the total exports of the base metal industry. The volume increased 9.94% over the same period the previous year. Exports of basic metal industrial commodities with the next largest volume were non-ferrous base metals with volumes reaching 1.49 million tons during the first 8 months of this year. Followed by nickel with a volume of 457.82 thousand tons, copper with a volume of 231.51 thousand tons, aluminum with a volume of 160.96 thousand tons. After that, there is Tin with a volume of 51.2 thousand tons, then zinc with a volume of 10.81 thousand tons, and precious base metals with a volume of 1.2 thousand tons. The exports of base metals that recorded the largest growth during the period January-August 2022 compared to January-August 2021 are as follows:

5. Copper: 3.43%
6. Aluminum: 1.65%
