The Agriculture Office of Subang Regency, West Java, applies Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) technology or climate-smart agriculture to rice cultivation in the Patokbeusi District, to increase productivity. Head of the Subang Agriculture Service, Nenden Setiawati, in Subang, Wednesday, said that to facilitate the use of agricultural technology, his party started with a scaling up expo in the Pantura area, namely in Ciberes Village, Patokbeusi, Subang. Scaling Up means a demonstration plot (direct application of technology in the field) which usually has a trial area of one hectare. However, in Ciberes Village, the demonstration plot applied is quite extensive, reaching 50 hectares. Nenden said that the purpose of the demonstration plot was to increase rice productivity through prior special treatment.
The scaling up activity was held in collaboration with the Subang Agriculture Service with the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Home Affairs (Irrigation Institutional Development), Ministry of PUPR (Rehabilitation of Irrigation Buildings), Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas and Ministry of Finance. This scaling up program is applied to other farmer groups," he said. He admitted that he is currently preparing several machineries to be accommodated in the Pantura area, to support the activities of local farmers. The Head of the Mainstay Farmers and Fishermen Contact (KTNA) of West Java, Otong Wiranta, conveyed that it was related to the use of seed sowing equipment for farmers in scaling up. "There is a problem with the spacing between what farmers usually do and sowing seeds. So there has to be collaboration. We can adjust the spacing so that the spacing can be reduced. Otherwise, a combain harvester will help when harvesting," he said.
