The Provincial Government of West Sumatra has established four flagship programs that are used as the locomotive to drive the economy. The Governor of West Sumatra Mahyeldi said there were four flagship programs, namely Healthy and Smart West Sumatra, Religious and Cultured West Sumatra, Prosperous West Sumatra, and Justice West Sumatra. “So the four flagship programs have been included in the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) for 2021-2026. The regional economy has high hopes for their flagship programs,” said the governor, Wednesday, (12/10/2022).
He said that essentially the flagship program was an accelerator to improve the quality of basic services and a locomotive to drive the regional economy, especially in the leading sector. As for the agricultural sector, the West Sumatra Provincial Government has set a policy for the next 5 years (2021-2026) that the budget for the agricultural sector is allocated as much as 10% of the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget each year. Furthermore, the tourism sector develops tourism infrastructure and through tourism event in West Sumatra tourist destinations. “As we know tourism in West Sumatra has its own uniqueness. This is an important value, and can make tourists want to come to West Sumatra," he said. Mahyeldi explained that in West Sumatra there are a number of interesting tourist objects to visit. Because West Sumatra has a world heritage tour, namely OCMH (Ombilin Coal Heritage Mining) in Sawahlunto. Then there are also 15 intangible cultural heritages that have also been recognized by the world, namely the talua, randang, Malamang, kawa daun, batik tanah like, eating bajamba, dadiah, saluang, pupuik sarunai, bansi, talempok pacik, gamad, weaving. "So this is a lever for West Sumatra, moreover we have declared 2022 as Visit Beautiful West Sumatra and this has been supported and elaborated also through the budget in both the Provincial APBD, as well as Regency and City APBD," said Mahyeldi.
