Jember Regent Hendy Siswanto hopes that the “Papuma Fashion Week” event held at Papuma Beach can boost the tourism and economic sectors in Jember Regency, East Java. “By taking advantage of tourism potentials such as Papuma Beach, it indicates that we will also contribute to developing the tourism sector in Jember,” said Hendy in a written statement received in Jember, Sunday (11/9/2022). Perhutani Independent Business Unit (KBM) Ecotourism of East Java held the “Papuma Fashion Week” activity at Tanjung Papuma Beach, Jember Regency, for two days, 10-11 September 2022. Hendy said not only in the tourism sector with the number of visitors watching the fashion competition, but it is also an important part of helping the economic sector because visitors who attend can buy MSME stalls that sell along the shoreline. According to him, this is a means of proving that Jember Regency is rich in human resources and the impressive appearance of professional models in batik clothing is also able to amaze the eyes of the visitors who attend. “The existence of Papuma Fashion Week activities can inspire other tourist attractions in Jember with creative ideas, as is the event with fashion featuring batik clothing with the strength of Jember batik,” he said.
Hendy emphasized that Papuma Beach is an inseparable part of Jember. For this reason, the state of the beautiful beach must be utilized as much as possible for the benefit of the people. “We have to be more intense in collaborating so that it can also bring benefits to MSMEs around Papuma Beach tourism. That is very extraordinary because it is an attraction for tourists to come to Jember,” he said. Meanwhile, the General Manager of East Java Ecotourism KBM Berthus Sudarmeidi said Papuma Fashion Week was held to stimulate tourism, especially in the cultural field at Tanjung Papuma Beach, which so far has only been known for its beautiful panoramic beaches. He hopes that Papuma Fashion Week can become an annual calendar of activities that can excite the fashion sector even more. Perhutani is ready to facilitate all activities that are aimed at increasing MSMEs, especially in Jember.
