Indonesia’s State-Owned Enterprise Minister Erick Thohir encouraged the Indonesian diaspora who lives abroad to play an active role in supporting the MSME program to reach the export market. As valuable assets, Indonesian Diaspora networks and communities that spread all over the world can increase the acceleration of national development. In his official statement on September 6th, he said that the Diaspora has succeeded in adding new job potential for the Indonesian people, encouraging domestic MSMEs to go global, as well as attracting a lot of potential investment from abroad. Thohir hoped that positive cooperation and collaboration can continue to be built to advance Indonesia.
The role of the Diaspora which actively helps promote opportunities, potentials, and cultural heritage of Indonesia in the global arena has made Indonesia have a good reputation in the eyes of the international community. Diaspora has a significant role in knitting national power to be global and contribute to the economy and nation-building in the context of total diplomacy. “Therefore on this good opportunity, I would like to express my highest appreciation to the Indonesian diaspora who have made their optimal contribution to the nation,” said Thohir. He encouraged the diaspora to play an active role in supporting strategic programs launched by the government, especially the MSME Go Export program. Previously, Erick Thohir appreciated all SOEs who participated in supporting the 2022 Tong-Tong Fair Festival in the Netherlands by bringing their assisted MSME partners. The event is quite grand so it is suitable to promote the Indonesian economy and tourism to the people and the Indonesian Diaspora in the Netherlands, and he hoped that the festival can be a forum for SOEs to support MSMEs to go global and advance to the next grade.
