East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa believes that the Mango Food Estate inaugurated by President Joko Widodo of Sukodono Village, Panceng District, Gresik Regency, will strengthen food security. According to him, the food industry village for mango fruit commodities is increasingly advancing the development of the horticultural sector by East Java from upstream to downstream. "Of course, it is hoped that it will be able to encourage the production of mangoes and other horticultural products from Gresik and its surroundings so as to strengthen food security, as well as the welfare of the people of East Java,"
Governor Khofifah explained that the Mango Food Estate in Gresik, which is a national long-term program to maintain food security, involves many policymakers from upstream to downstream, starting from upstream to downstream.
Gresik Mango Food Estate is the first large-scale integrated area developed in Indonesia. which includes four sub-districts of Gresik, sub-districts namely Dukun covering an area of 1,205 hectares, Sidayu District Under the management of PT Galasari Gunung Sejahtera, the summer food will develop malaba varieties of mango, gadung-21, sweet arum and garifta.
The marketing process, PT Galasari Gunung Sejahtera cooperates with a number of companies. By 2024, the total development of Mango Food Estate by Gresik Regency is targeted to reach 6,024 hectares by involving 12,048 farmers. According to Governor Khofifah, the involvement of the Mango offtaker of the Food Estate plays an important role so that the results of horticultural products from farmers can be more optimal. "Currently, only about 50 percent of the mango harvest can enter the modern market. The other 50 percent is used for preparations such as juice, frozen cut fruit, dodol, ice cream, chips and cakes," he said. "With the involvement of offtakers, horticultural products will have added value because the products grown are market needs," he added.
