Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin opened the International Halal Congress (KHI) in Pangkalpinang City, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, Tuesday afternoon. "We hope that KHI will accelerate Indonesia as the world's halal center," said Ma'ruf Amin after opening KHI in Pangkalpinang. He said that in realizing Indonesia as the world's halal center, his party had held several meetings last month involving all coordinating ministries and ministries with the theme "Move Faster In Order To Realize Indonesia as a World Halal Center".

"I think today's congress will prove and finalize and involve various business actors in order to make Indonesia the world's halal center," he said. According to him, the government is currently also mapping and developing it through the regional committees of sharia economy and finance. "We appreciate MUI which has pioneered halal certification more than 20 years ago," he said. He added that Indonesia's halal standard has become a global standard and has been recognized by other countries. "This is something extraordinary and has value in the sight of Allah SWT," he said.
