The application of halal traceability or halal traceability in logistics supply chains has become a necessity in Indonesia and has the potential to capture a large global market. Director of the Halal Product Industry of the National Sharia Economic and Finance Committee (KNEKS) Afdhal Aliasar explained that halal traceability can provide a sense of security and comfort and increase consumer confidence in the products produced. Not only that, its existence also makes the halal certification process easier and more efficient for business actors. According to him, business actors can answer the challenges of the development of digital technology advancements and the lifestyle demands of domestic and international people who choose healthy, quality and halal products by applying this principle. "Halal traceability makes the Indonesian halal industry more trustworthy which will ultimately help Indonesia become the center of the world's halal producers and industry," he said, quoted on Monday (13/6/2022). According to KNEKS, the halal supply chain ecosystem cannot stand alone. All stakeholders must be committed to advancing and driving the halal industry, one of which is by accelerating the development of the Halal Industrial Estate. Industry players need halal integrity through product traceability that can be conveyed to consumers. Therefore, KNEKS must also synergize with logistics actors in grouping MSMEs. One of them is by identifying those who can upgrade to enter the industrial area so that the halalness of their products is guaranteed.
Similarly, the President Director of PT. Makmur Berkah Amanda at Halal Industrial Park Sidoarjo, Adi Saputra Tedja stated that he had focused on developing a halal industrial area since 2016 to help MSMEs/IKM. Currently, he explained, the Sidoarjo Halal Industrial Park provides three warehousing facilities, namely raw materials, manufacturing, and a place for finished goods whose management is assisted by Shipper technology. Thus, it will create trust between suppliers and factories that the raw materials used are indeed halal products. It is noted that the sharia economy, especially the halal industry, has great potential in Indonesia's economic recovery after the pandemic. The halal industry is also proven to have made a major contribution which is increasing every year to the national economy. The contribution of the sharia economy during the first quarter of 2021 penetrated 25.44 percent, an increase from 24.86 percent in 2020.
