Sukabumi City Government Encourages Sustainable Agricultural Food Land Productivity

Sukabumi City seeks to boost the potential of the agricultural sector even though its land area is limited compared to other regions. This is done by maximizing the productivity of sustainable agricultural food land (LP2B). The data obtained states that the total area of agricultural land in Sukabumi City is around 1,389 hectares. Meanwhile, the total area of LP2B in Sukabumi City reaches 44.3 hectares, with details of 31.5 hectares belonging to the local government and 12.8 hectares from independent farmers and in the future it is targeted to reach 321 hectares. ''This effort to boost agriculture is now involving Kodim 0607 Sukabumi City,'' said Deputy Mayor of Sukabumi, Andri Setiawan Hamami, Monday (23/5/2022). This can be seen in the harvest of the prosperous farmer group which is LP2B in Ciandam, Cibeureum Hilir Village, Sukabumi City, last Sunday (22/5/2022).

According to Andri, this harvest is an extraordinary step with the Sukabumi City Military Command 0607 in advancing the spirit of the farmers. Especially for planting rice and boosting land productivity. Where continued Andri, the initial yield per hectare reached 5-6 tons. However, in LP2B land, more than this amount will be targeted with various assistance and facilitation from the government and now from the Sukabumi Kodim. For example, continued Andri, starting from the technology of maximum grain handling efficiency to avoid wasted. Oa said the harvest in Ciandam is 1.56 hectares and is maintained because there is already a spatial plan. In the sense that Andri said, the government determined agricultural land that should not be used by settlements or LP2B. ''Although there are also settlements here, but we maintain it so that food security can take place,'' he said.

Head of the Sukabumi City Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Security Service (DKP3) Andri Setiawan added, in line with Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2016 it was stated that when residents participate in the LP2B program, it is the responsibility of DKP3 to provide incentives. For example, the assistance of seeds, fertilizers, and when there is a problematic irrigation network can be assisted in overcoming it. Andri hopes that the LP2B land in Sukabumi City will reach an area of 321 hectares. This effort is expected to be realized until 2023. Andri revealed, every year rice fields in Sukabumi are reduced a lot. In addition, it is feared that there are no young people who are interested in becoming farmers and that there are no local residents to work on the fields or rice. From these problems, Andri said, a regional regulation related to LP2B was formed. Meanwhile, LP2B has been determined by the local government that LP2B is around 321 hectares, but there is a desire from the provincial RTRW to be around 425 hectares. Dandim 0607 Sukabumi City Lieutenant Colonel Inf Dedy Ariyanto explained that this support for agriculture is one of the programs from Kodim 0607 to build unity. So that farmers benefit and this is one of the collaborations between the Sukabumi City Government and the Kodim 0607 Sukabumi City Cooperative. ''Farmers must benefit when making the LP2B land and the goal is to achieve food security at the national level,'' said Dedy. In the future, it will also include a program for modernization in optimizing the potential of agricultural land in Sukabumi.
