The revolution of the global economic system and food production provides a great opportunity for the concept of the blue economy revolution, namely an economy based on the potential of the sea. Lecturer at the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) Dr Taryono Kodiran said this in a webinar at the Masters Study Program Management of Natural Resources at the Andalas University Graduate School, quoted from IPB University's written statement, Sunday. According to Taryono, Indonesia has policies related to the blue economy which is reflected in Law Number 32 of 2014 concerning Marine Affairs. "The emphasis is on sustainable innovation that is able to support and maintain the function of marine ecosystems," he said. This expert on coastal and marine resource management made an important note that the biggest challenge for the blue economy is to use the ocean more sustainably. "Sea ecosystems must have economic value and activities in environmental goods and services. This concept must also focus on inclusiveness," he said.
"According to him, capital in the form of marine resources, sustainability and socio-economics is the basis of a sustainable blue economy. Joint research has an obligation so that this capital can be utilized properly. "The capital function works as expected. Mainly all parties play a role in ensuring the sustainability of any blue economy research results," he explained. He explained that the level of blue economic development can also be measured using the Blue Economy Development Index (BEDI). used in the form of marine resource capital, supporting factors, social capital and sustainable growth. "This index can measure the level of readiness of blue economy development in Indonesia," he said. That the sea has characteristics and systems m which may be sorted. Blue economy sectors that are still developing, such as aquaculture to high-tech marine services and products also require the involvement of various parties," he said.
