South Sulawesi's Export Value for the First Quarter of 2022 IDR 5.8 Trillion, Up 37.36%

The export value of South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi) during the first quarter of 2022 reached USD 407.29 million or around IDR 5.8 trillion. This export increased by 37.36% compared to the same period in 2021. "The total export value during January-March 2022 reached 407.29 million US dollars (around IDR 5.8 trillion with an exchange rate of IDR 14,350 per US dollar). This increased by about 37.36% c to c," said the Head of the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) South Sulawesi Suntono in the official statistical release received on Monday (16/5/2022). Suntono added that there are 10 leading commodity groups that support exports. These include nickel, iron and steel, oily grains, sulfur salts and lime, fish and shrimp. Furthermore, lacquers and resins, processed animal food, processed meat and fish, wood and wood and fruit products.


"The total export value of these 10 main commodities during the first quarter of 2022 reached USD 404.28 million. Other commodities were only USD 3.01 million. The total export volume of South Sulawesi during the first quarter of 2022 reached 604,730 tons. This was dominated by salt, sulfur and lime as much as 488,390 tons. Then iron and steel was 43,705 tons. "There are 23,780 tons of oily grains from 10 main commodities, the minimum export volume of fruit is only 190 tons," he explained. Meanwhile, the 10 main export destinations include Japan, China, India , Taiwan, Timor Leste, Australia, South Korea, Bangladesh. Then, the Philippines and Fiji. "Japan contributed the largest export value of USD 245.66 million during the first quarter of 2022. Followed by China with an export value of USD 120.68 million, " he concluded.
