Influenced by Increased Production of Rice and Seaweed, South Sulawesi Economy Grows 4.27%

South Sulawesi's economy based on the amount of Gross Regional Domestic Product (PDRB) at current prices (ADHB) in the first quarter of 2022 reached Rp. 136.69 trillion and at constant prices (ADHK) reached Rp. 83.36 trillion. South Sulawesi's economic figures for the first quarter of 2022 grew by 4.27 percent (y-on-y) in the first quarter of 2021 with ADHB of IDR 125.05 trillion and ADHK of IDR 79.95 trillion. This was explained by the Head of the Central Statistics Indonesia for South Sulawesi Province, Suntono, Monday (9/5). “The community activities in Q1-2022 were better than Q1-202. Events that encourage, among others, in the first quarter of 2022, rice production is estimated to increase by 9 percent compared to the first quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, corn harvested area is estimated to increase by 9-10 percent compared to the first quarter of 2021.


According to the South Sulawesi KP Office, the production of aquaculture seaweed rose by 3 percent compared to the previous quarter, while the production of fish caught in the sea rose by 20 percent compared to the first quarter of 2021. "Then as many as 37.3 thousand new vehicles took care of BBNKB-I in the first quarter of 2022. The number of new vehicles is still lower than the fourth quarter of 2021 but higher than the first quarter of 2021," said Suntono. "Thus, the economic growth of South Sulawesi in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the first quarter of 2021 experienced a growth of 4.27 percent (y-on-y)," he said. However, if we look at the q to q quarter I-2022 compared to the previous quarter, it contracted by -5.77 percent.
