Export Value in Bali Increases 14.19%

DENPASAR - Bali's export performance increased by 14.19% in March 2022 compared to February 2022. Based on data from the Bali Province Statistics Indonesia, the export value in March 2022 increased by 9.00% (yoy), from USD 47.60 million to USD 51 ,88 million. The trigger was the increase in the export value of the manufacturing sector in March 2022 which reached 12.27% (yoy). Head of the Bali Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Hanif Yahya said that of the top five export destinations for Bali in March 2022, the export value to America was recorded the highest at USD 17.47 million with a percentage increase of 6.76%. If accumulated, in general the total export value of Bali from January to March 2022 is USD 141.07 million or an increase of 15.04% compared to the previous year period (yoy).

"The export of Bali's processing industry has increased quite a lot because some of Bali's mainstay commodities continue to export. One of Bali's export commodities that experienced the highest export increase in value was clothing and accessories (not knitted) which increased by USD 2,075,984," said Hanif as quoted on Wednesday (11/5/2022). Chairman of the Association of Indonesian Handicraft Exporters and Producers (ASEPHI) Ketut Dharma Siadja responded that Bali's exports increased but not significantly. "Of course our main target market is abroad, currently the economic conditions of several foreign countries have started to improve after the pandemic, demand from foreign countries has also increased, so exports are also going well," he explained to Bisnis. He conveyed that handicraft commodities such as silver handicrafts, wood crafts, rattan crafts and shell crafts were also contributors to Bali's exports. In addition to the types of commodities and global markets, according to him, the factors that influence the increase in Bali's exports are the weakening rupiah value. This will trigger our goods to be competitive in the eyes of the world. Seeing the development of the global economy that continues to improve, Dharma hopes that exports in Bali will continue to increase and he is optimistic about Bali's exports. "I'm optimistic. Of course, with our handicraft commodities, because I see a weakening of the rupiah, so that our goods will certainly be seen by the global market," he said.
