Indonesian Coffee Reaches IDR 283 Billion Transaction Potential at Boston Exhibition

Indonesian coffee products managed to reap potential transactions of USD19.5 million or Rp.283 billion at the largest coffee exhibition in Boston, United States, namely Specialty Coffee Expo (SCE) 2022. "This proves that the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs has succeeded in facilitating Indonesian SMEs engaged in the coffee business to penetrate and expand market access to the United States. This also proves that Indonesian specialty coffee products are able to compete and attract consumers, especially the United States market," said Head of Legal and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs Henra Saragih in an official statement, Wednesday, April 13, 2022. The SCE 2022 grand event will be held on April 8-10, 2022 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, United States. In this exhibition, specialty coffee products from various countries in the world compete with each other to attract the attention of visitors. Specialty coffee products from Indonesia have won the appreciation of world coffee lovers. "Through Indonesia's participation in SCE 2022, it is hoped that exports of Indonesian coffee products to the US will increase," he said. The coffee products that were exhibited and received the highest demand were the best coffees from West Java, Gayo, Mandailing, Luwak, Toraja, and Bali.


At this event, Indonesia promoted coffee through coffee tasters and explored business matching with potential buyers. The countries that made the largest trade deals include the United States, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina and Spain. Caldera Coffee received a potential buyer from Argentina with a potential transaction value of IDR 157 billion for Toraja, Bali, Mandailing, Javanese and Luwak coffee products. In addition, Java Halu Coffee from West Java received requests for green beans from three potential buyers, the United States, Mexico, and Ecuador. As a follow-up, the three buyers will visit the Java Halu Coffee plantation in West Java in May 2022 to carry out surveys and trade contracts. PT. Sanika Indonesia Success in obtaining a potential order from the country of Ecuador in the form of coffee capsules. In addition to coffee products, a number of products that have received demand, including chocolate products, namely Hiro & Cocoatree, received potential orders from USA buyers for choco powder products reaching 100 tons or Rp. 25 billion. Cokelatin received potential orders from Canada, the US and Panama and PT Delifru Utama Indonesia received potential orders for syrup products from Rwanda, the United States and Qatar.
