The Gresik Regency Government, East Java, released the exports of the 22 products of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to Japan and Malaysia, as an effort to accelerate regional economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic. Deputy Regent of Gresik Aminatun Habibah said the exported MSME products were rattan handicrafts from the Kriya Giri Sejahtera Cooperative from Domas Village, Menganti District, and frozen food products from UD Family Food from Tenaru Village, Driyorejo District. "This export activity is actually the result of cooperation from various parties, as well as a form of motivation for other MSME players," said Bu Min, Aminatun Habibah's nickname, Tuesday (12/4/2022). Bu Min hopes that frequent export efforts can motivate Gresik Regency SMEs to provide the best quality, so that they are able to seize foreign markets. "MSMEs in Gresik should not be satisfied with their current achievements, but must always improve the quality of existing production, so that they can reach world class," he said.
Meanwhile, the total export potential carried out by Gresik MSMEs reaches Rp. 9 billion, with a volume of 1 container of 20 feet. Head of Customs and Excise Section V Gresik Eko Rudi Hartono said that rattan handicraft products from Domas Gresik Village would be purchased and at the same time be used as sample items as the initial gate for larger purchases from Japan. "The plan is that in May 2022 there will be representatives from Japan visiting the Kriya Giri Sejahtera Cooperative, Gresik. The goal is to carry out quality control in order to fulfill the Japanese market," he said. For frozen food products from UD Family Food, it is the initial product and for larger transactions, the next delivery is carried out. Previously, the Gresik Regency Government had also released exports of agricultural MSME products, namely limes from Kebonagung, Ujung Pangkah District, and wood waste that penetrated the Indian market, through the wood processing company PT Vesta Legno Internasional in Cerme District.
