Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo revealed, Indonesia's digital economy is estimated to grow to IDR 4,531 trillion in 2030. Then, there will be an increase of 21 million new digital consumers with GMV (gross merchandise value) in Indonesia which reaches USD 70 billion. "The e-commerce sector is the main driver. Then the use of big data analysis can provide market insight that is more productive and efficient," she said in a written statement, reported by Mediaindonesia.com, Monday, April 4, 2022.
Angela said, during the COVID-19 pandemic, digital transformation was the key to the resilience of many businesses in Indonesia. According to her, 28% of business actors in Indonesia said they would not survive the pandemic if it weren't for the digital platform. The challenge ahead, continued Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, is how the younger generation can maximize the use of technology to increase productivity and create new innovations for the national economy. "Mr. President Joko Widodo has firmly stated that digital sovereignty and independence must be an important principle in digital transformation," she said.
To realize Indonesia's digital transformation agenda, the government has compiled a Digital Indonesia Roadmap 2021-2024 to accelerate and increase the utilization and development of technology. "We still have a lot of work to do to strengthen our nation's digital economic ecosystem. Continue to increase our insight, experience and networking," she concluded.
