Secretary to the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso said the government continues to carry out regulatory reforms by issuing the Job Creation Law to create a more conducive investment ecosystem so as to create jobs in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. "This regulation that we are reforming is carried out to create a more conducive investment ecosystem and also to facilitate doing business in Indonesia, which will certainly have a significant impact on job creation, especially in boosting our national economy," said Susiwijono in an official statement in Jakarta, Friday. He said that regulatory reform on licensing is trying to be implemented with three principles, namely business licensing with a risk-based approach, simplification of basic requirements, and simplification of investment requirements.
The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs is also working with the British Embassy to organize a webinar to broaden insights into best practices for regulatory reform, particularly in the UK. The UK has been carrying out regulatory reforms since 1990 and to this day continues to reform and develop various measures with the aim of improving the investment ecosystem. Susiwijono continued that regulatory reform policies are not easy to implement if they are not followed by adjustments to a complete mindset and understanding. "Therefore, this webinar is expected to be a means of education and of course will be of great benefit to enrich our insight regarding the implementation of regulatory reform in order to create a conducive investment climate and also includes the application of a risk-based approach to business licensing to realize business licensing in Indonesia." concluded the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Susiwijono.
In the webinar, all explanations and information were explained directly by the speakers, namely the Chief Executive of the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards Graham Russell, the British Embassy Jakarta's Regulatory Reform Attache Zoe Dayan, and the Deputy for Economic Affairs of the Cabinet Secretariat Satya Bhakti Parikesit.
