Investment in Karawang Reaches Rp. 13.83 Trillion, Ranked Second in West Java

The realization of investment in Karawang Regency is ranked second in West Java, amounting to Rp. 13.838 trillion. The first place is occupied by Bekasi Regency of Rp. 23,302 trillion based on data on the development of investment realization in West Java for the January-June 2021 period. Head of the Karawang One Stop Integrated Service and Investment Service (DPMPTSP), Eka Sanatha explained, the incoming investment came from foreign investment. (PMA) and domestic investment (PMDN). "The realization of PMA and PMDN is IDR 13,838 in the first semester, January - June 2021. While the target is 23.85 percent," said Eka when met at the DPMPTSP Karawang Office, Wednesday (22/9/2021). Eka claims that the entry of investment into Karawang also presents an absorption of labor. The number is 6,726 people or 11.57 percent with 1,204 activities. He said investment in Karawang began to grow since the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

One of the ways to increase the investment value is the entry of a car battery factory with an initial investment of around Rp. 14 trillion. Meanwhile, the total investment is 8.7 billion US dollars or equivalent to Rp. 123.97 trillion (exchange rate of Rp. 14,250). Eka compared the realization of investment in 2020 which was only Rp. 16.74 trillion. This is due to the high number of Covid-19 cases in the world, including Indonesia. "In 2020 we are in confusion. That amount (Rp 16.74 trillion) was actually realized in the first quarter. After that we had lowered the target several times from the original target of around Rp. 23 trillion," said Eka. Eka is also optimistic that the investment coming into Karawang will continue to grow. Moreover, currently the licensing process is carried out through the online single submission (OSS) system. This is because this risk-based business license has been integrated electronically. This OSS is useful in business licensing for micro, small and medium to large businesses.

According to him, there are three main categories of business scale in OSS covering large businesses, medium businesses, and small businesses. Each of these business scales will also receive different forms of licensing. "The high risk of business licensing is in the form of a permit, the medium risk is in the form of a standard certificate, and low risk is enough to register in the form of a business registration number on the OSS. So it is according to risk," he explained. Eka said that his party will continue to disseminate the use of the OSS platform to business actors and the public. In addition to the ease of obtaining business permits, other factors that influence investment growth are that Covid-19 cases continue to decline and vaccination achievements, especially in Karawang, are quite good. The achievement of the first dose of Covid-19 vaccination until Tuesday (21/9/2021) was 43.56 percent or 835,137 people. Then for the second dose of 25.36 percent or 486,194 people. While the vaccination targets in Karawang amounted to 1,917,354 people.
