The Minister of Trade, Muhammad Lutfi, said that swallow's nest has a high value for Indonesia. Because currently the country is the main producer of swallow nests for the world, its value has reached 80 percent.

"This bird's nest has value, has extraordinary value, while Indonesia is the main producer of swallow's nest for the world, even if I'm not mistaken, almost 80 percent of the world's capacity is supplied by Indonesia," said Lutfi after attending a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo. (Jokowi) at the Presidential Office, Tuesday (4/5).
He explained that in 2020 Indonesia could export swallow's nest with an amount of USD 547 for a capacity of 1,316 tonnes of swallow's nest.
"So if we look at the amount of tonage, we see an extraordinary price disparity. The price disparity occurs because the main destination countries have different prices," he explained.
He gave an example that Indonesia sells swallow's nest to Hong Kong for almost more than 85 percent of its exports, which is at a price of USD 88 per kilo. Meanwhile, he said, in China the price per kilo is more than USD 1,500.
"That is why we will carry out shifting to carry out similar rules between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Trade," he said.
However, said Lutfi, the goal will still be one, namely to try to increase exports rather than the wealth of swallow nests. So as to get the best results for farmers for the domestic industry.
"We will work together, led by the President, the Ministry of Trade will streamline the export licensing process and ensure that we will get the best price for the swallow's nest," he explained.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo to accelerate from upstream to downstream of swallow's nest and porang plant farmers.

"Finally, Mr. President asked to side with the people, not to be complicated, make regulations that do not hinder," he explained.
Therefore, later he and the Minister of Trade, Muhammad Lutfi will do their best to be able to export value for swallow's nests and porang plants.
"I, as the Minister of Agriculture, together with the Trade Minister, will try to make maximum efforts to provide space for porang farmers and swallow house farmers so that tomorrow we will get the intention of exporting the interests of the country and the people," he explained.
