Eni Secures Long-Term LNG Supply Agreements, Strengthening East Kalimantan’s Strategic Role

Italian energy company Eni has secured three long-term LNG supply agreements from Indonesia’s South Hub and North Hub gas projects, reinforcing East Kalimantan’s position as a key energy hub in Southeast Asia. The agreements involve LNG production from the Kutei Basin with a combined volume of approximately 2 million tons per year. Supply distribution will utilize the existing Bontang LNG facilities, including the reactivation of an idle processing train to maximize Indonesia’s energy infrastructure efficiency.

The development highlights growing global confidence in Indonesia’s upstream energy sector and supports the country’s long-term export potential. Eni’s deepwater gas projects in East Kalimantan are targeted to begin production in 2028, with projected output reaching around 2 billion cubic feet of gas per day and 90,000 barrels of condensate daily. The expansion is expected to strengthen national energy resilience, create economic opportunities, and increase Indonesia’s strategic importance in the global LNG market.
