The culinary industry plays an important role to drive Indonesia's economic growth, according to Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.
"Indonesia's culinary arts is a potential industry that continues to grow. The industry will boost the national economy and create numerous jobs," Uno stated here during a virtual culinary business school organized by Foodiz on Saturday.
The minister highlighted the importance of possessing knowledge on business and culinary arts in order to develop the culinary industry that can compete in the international market.
"In this new normal era, business knowledge is a must (for culinary industry operators) to compete and to collaborate. In future, the edu-tech platform is also expected to become a global startup that inspires culinary businesses," Uno emphasized.
Meanwhile, CEO Foodizz Rex Marindo affirmed that the toughest challenge for culinary business operators is the lack of knowledge of the industry.
"During my work with colleagues in Foodizz, we observed a huge gap that has led to culinary businesses failing owing to the lack of comprehensive knowledge," Marindo stated.
The culinary business school is expected to open access for participants to the business ecosystem and connect them to partners, investors, and vendors, he remarked.
