Located in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is a Muslim-majority country, yet it is also apluralist, democratic and secular nation. These social and demographiccharacteristics led to Islamic-oriented political parties and pressuregroups pushing the government to restrict both the trading andconsumption of alcohol.
