Indonesia’s government has started 2026 with a strong budget execution, as Vice Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara highlighted robust spending performance that aims to stimulate economic activity and strengthen household consumption in the first quarter. Early budget realization shows significant increases across priority programs, particularly social support initiatives and infrastructure investment, reflecting a proactive fiscal stance to uplift growth momentum.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa reported that while the State Budget posted a modest deficit in January, spending acceleration remains within planned limits and supports broader objectives of economic stability and expansion. Higher tax revenue growth and strategic expenditure are expected to sustain this positive trajectory, reinforcing confidence in the state budget’s role as a key driver of growth.
