Indonesia to Export 2,280 Tons of Premium Hajj Rice to Saudi Arabia

Indonesia’s state logistics agency Perum Bulog is preparing to export 2,280 tons of domestically produced premium rice to Saudi Arabia starting 28 February 2026, marking the country’s first overseas shipment of rice for Hajj pilgrims. The deliveries will be made in two waves (28 February and 4 March) from the Port of Tanjung Priok in Jakarta to the Port of Jeddah, where local importers will distribute the rice to pilgrimage kitchens under agreed quality standards. The rice meets premium specifications with a maximum 5% broken rate and moisture below 14%, reflecting commitment to high quality. This initiative showcases Indonesia’s ability to supply its own premium rice for Hajj needs without affecting domestic availability.

Officials highlighted strong cross-agency coordination among ministries and food authorities to ensure smooth logistics and food safety compliance, while carefully managing stocks so national reserves remain stable. The positive step not only supports the wellbeing of Indonesian pilgrims but also reinforces Indonesia’s growing presence in international food trade and its ambition to expand rice exports to additional markets.
