Indonesia has successfully broadened its global fishery export reach by securing official export approval for 57 fish processing units to supply products to both Türkiye and China, according to the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. The approvals were granted after units met strict safety, sanitation, and quality criteria, including holding HACCP certification, allowing these businesses to export fish and other seafood products under internationally recognized standards.
Türkiye is seen as a growing market for Indonesian seafood, with key commodities such as skipjack tuna, tuna, and carrageenan reaching about 2,600 tonnes valued at 4.6 million USD in 2025. China remains a major export destination, with Indonesian fishery exports totaling 491,528 tonnes worth 1.04 billion USD last year, spanning products like frozen squid, seaweed varieties, and ribbonfish. This expanded access reflects Indonesia’s strengthened global trade ties and its commitment to boosting export performance in high-demand markets.
