The Indonesian Ministry of Industry has announced a one-year extension of the enforcement deadline for mandatory Indonesian National Standards (SNI) on certain steel products, giving domestic manufacturers more time to adapt and comply with technical requirements. This move aims to ensure quality and safety in steel materials while preventing market disruptions as firms complete their certification processes.
Officials highlighted that the extended transition period will help foster a healthier competitive environment, protect consumer interests, and strengthen the national steel industry’s global competitiveness. With this additional time, producers and importers can prepare production capacities and documentation without impacting supply chains, ultimately supporting long-term industrial resilience and growth.
