Indonesia’s Economic Growth Projected to Exceed 2026 Target, President Says

President Prabowo Subianto expressed strong confidence that Indonesia’s economic growth will surpass its 5.4% target in 2026, highlighting tangible progress driven by rising consumption and flagship social programs. Speaking at an economic forum in Jakarta, he emphasized that the free meals initiative has supported job creation, increased farmers’ incomes, and reached more than 60 million beneficiaries, contributing positively to domestic demand. Senior Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto added that growth could reach 5.6% this year, while first-quarter expansion is projected between 5.5% and 6%, supported by IDR 809 trillion (USD 48 billion) in government spending.

Further strengthening the outlook, sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia is advancing major downstream natural resource processing projects worth USD 19 billion, following the launch of six projects valued at USD 7 billion. The fund also plans to invest IDR 202.4 trillion in data centers, agriculture, and waste-to-energy initiatives, including a IDR 21 trillion data center platform developed with a global operator. These strategic investments, combined with improving market sentiment, reflect Indonesia’s commitment to sustainable growth, value-added industrialization, and strong governance standards.
