Indonesia Seeks Investors for Mega Integrated Cattle Farms in Central Kalimantan

The Indonesian government, through its Agriculture Ministry, is proactively inviting investment to develop large-scale integrated cattle farms in Central Kalimantan, aiming to build a herd of up to 200,000 head as part of a broader strategy to strengthen national meat and dairy self-sufficiency. The project in Sukamara District will combine beef and dairy cattle production with downstream processing and integrated grazing systems that utilize nearby plantation areas to boost feed efficiency and sustainability, reflecting a vision for modern livestock ecosystems that support long-term food security and regional economic growth.

Officials emphasized that creating a welcoming climate for investors — including streamlined regulations, partnership models that include smallholder farmers, and supportive financing and insurance options — will help accelerate development and increase Indonesia’s livestock population while fostering inclusive economic benefits. The initiative underscores the country’s commitment to reducing import reliance and enhancing domestic capacity in the livestock sector.
