Indonesian and US companies have signed a series of trade and investment agreements valued at more than USD 7 billion, marking a significant boost in bilateral economic cooperation ahead of a formal trade pact between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and US President Donald Trump. The deals include substantial purchases by Indonesian firms of US agricultural commodities such as soybeans, corn, cotton, and wheat, demonstrating strong demand and diversified sourcing strategies that support Indonesia’s food supply and industrial input needs.
In addition to agricultural trade, agreements span cooperation in critical minerals with mining group Freeport-McMoRan, oilfield technology collaboration between state producer Pertamina and Halliburton, and major semiconductor joint ventures including a USD 4.89 billion project with Essence Global Group. These developments highlight deepening economic ties, expanded investment flows, and strategic partnerships that are expected to strengthen long-term trade relations and drive mutual growth.
