Indonesia’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has announced a proactive strategy designed to boost the country’s seafood exports and help local producers meet evolving global standards. Under the 2026 plan, the ministry will support exporters in achieving compliance with new certification rules in major markets such as the EU and the United States, while also promoting sustainability, safety, and premium quality to enhance international competitiveness. Initiatives include facilitating access to preferential zero-tariff provisions under trade agreements and expanding presence at trade missions and global promotion events.
This strategy builds on robust performance, with Indonesia's seafood exports reaching USD 6.27 billion in 2025, supported by growth in key markets and a strong trade surplus. By strengthening market access, negotiating regulatory recognition, and enhancing quality standards, the government aims to amplify export growth, bolster foreign-exchange earnings, and empower the domestic seafood industry as a key contributor to economic resilience.
