Indonesia plans for nearly 90% of its exports to enter the European Union (EU) duty-free under the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), expected to take effect in early 2027. Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, emphasized that this measure will enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian products while supporting export market diversification amid global economic uncertainties.
The government is also advancing trade agreements with Canada, which provides 0% tariffs for over 90% of bilateral exports, and has reduced US import tariffs from 32% to 19%, while pursuing further trade deals. Additionally, Indonesia is working toward full accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) within two to three years. These initiatives form part of a broader strategy to strengthen structural reforms, attract investment, and accelerate the nation’s economic transformation.
