Indonesia Targets IDR 1,682 Trillion Investment to Accelerate Green Energy Development

The Indonesian government is targeting total investment of IDR 1,682 trillion over the next 10 years to accelerate the development of new and renewable energy, in line with the Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) 2025–2034. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources stated that around 70% of the required funding is expected to come from the private sector, reflecting strong confidence in market-driven participation to support the national energy transition agenda. This long-term investment push is designed to strengthen energy security while supporting sustainable economic growth.

If fully realized, the investment is projected to generate approximately 760,000 green jobs that directly contribute to environmental sustainability. The government has also reinforced its commitment through the issuance of Ministerial Regulation No. 10/2025, which serves as a key framework to accelerate the national energy transition across multiple sectors. In 2025 alone, Indonesia successfully added 1.3 gigawatts of green energy capacity, raising the share of clean energy in the national electricity mix to over 16%. This milestone signals that Indonesia remains on track toward achieving its net zero emissions target by 2060, while also reducing emissions by an estimated 82.47 million tons.
