2026 Maiden Export: 8.3 Tons of Live Fish from Natuna Successfully Penetrate Hong Kong Market

The Indonesian Quarantine Agency, through the Riau Islands Quarantine, successfully supervised the first export of 8.3 tons of live fish from Natuna to Hong Kong in early February 2026. The shipped commodities are of high economic value, including various types of grouper such as leopard coral grouper, cantang, tiger grouper, and parrotfish, with a total value of IDR 861 million. Before departure, all fish underwent rigorous physical and laboratory examinations to ensure health and compliance with international quality standards. This successful shipment proves that fishery products from Indonesia's border regions possess strong competitiveness in global markets that demand high health requirements.

For association members and business players, this maiden export momentum provides a positive signal for strengthening the economy of coastal communities in the Riau Islands throughout 2026. Fast and accurate quarantine services are key to maintaining the trust of export destination countries in the quality assurance of national fishery products. The government is committed to continuing to facilitate local exporters in expanding their market reach and increasing the shipment volume of other flagship marine commodities. With Natuna's abundant marine resources, it is hoped that these export activities will continue sustainably to drive foreign exchange growth and the future welfare of fishermen.
