Indonesia’s creative economy has firmly established itself as a new engine of national growth, supported by rising investment, expanding employment, and strong policy direction under the 2025 national development agenda. Within its first year, the Creative Economy Ministry has delivered measurable contributions to national economic performance, with key targets in the 2025 National Medium-Term Development Plan exceeded. This reflects robust momentum across multiple creative subsectors and growing confidence in Indonesia’s creative potential.
Investment in the creative economy reached IDR 90.12 trillion in the first half of 2025, representing 66% of the full-year target range of IDR 123.9 trillion to IDR 136.3 trillion. Employment in the sector climbed to 27.4 million workers, surpassing the 2025 target of 25.55 million. Looking ahead, the government plans to expand financing access in 2026 through the People’s Business Credit scheme, allocating up to IDR 10 trillion to support intellectual property-based creative industries. This initiative is expected to help local creative entrepreneurs scale up nationally and compete globally, reinforcing the sector’s long-term contribution to sustainable economic growth.
