Indonesia has secured approval from China for 40 additional Fish Processing Units to export fishery products, marking a positive milestone for the national fisheries sector. The approval was granted by the General Administration of Customs of China following successful implementation of a mutual recognition arrangement on fishery product quality assurance systems between the two countries. This framework has strengthened regulatory cooperation and accelerated market access for Indonesian seafood products, particularly ahead of the 2026 Chinese New Year.
The new approvals further expand Indonesia’s export potential, as the country already ships more than 1,080 types of fishery commodities to China. In 2025, total export volume reached 491,528 tons, with a value of approximately USD 1.04 billion, equivalent to around IDR 17.46 trillion. Leading export products include frozen squid, various types of seaweed, frozen ribbon fish, and other processed and frozen fish products. Authorities emphasized that continued adherence to sanitation, hygiene, and food safety standards across the entire production chain will be essential to maintaining competitiveness and supporting sustainable growth in global markets.
